Online Learning 2020
Starting the week of April 20th, our online learning will move to Schoology. Please use cvs.schoology.com to log on. Instructions for log in and the app can be found at this link. Remember engaging in this learning is the way to earn credit for this semester.
I will continue to communicate through email so please check your school emails on Office 365!
Week of 4/13:
Spring Break 4/6-4/10:
Week of 3/30:
1. Check out our class Flipgrid! Use the link or see below. Create a new video this week giving a book talk. (If you can't make a video, try blogging).
2. Respond to the blog post about your favorite book. If you could not make a video, you could also post here to give a book talk on your independent reading book.
3. By the end of the week, reply to one of your classmates' blog posts. You can respond to any comment from this week or last week.
4. Continue to read independently! 25-50 pages a week is a good average.
5. Continue to take independent reading notes in your notebook. (We will be using these in later posts/videos).
6. If you did not watch, create, or post last week, take time to catch up with us!
I will continue to communicate through email so please check your school emails on Office 365!
Week of 4/13:
- Continue or resume your independent reading. Try improving on your page count this week. If you've been reading 25 pages a week, see if you can read 30 or more pages. Planning time to read can help you achieve this new goal.
- Check out our class Flipgrid! Click the link or scroll down the page. Watch my video for this week and respond with a video of your own. You can even use the white board option to make it audio only, instead of video.
- Go back in your independent reading and collect details in your notebook that relate to a story element you are tracking (character, theme, setting, symbol, parallel plots, conflicts, etc.). This might look like a note jotting page. Next, organize the ideas that relate best to the element you're tracking to start developing a theory. Explain your theory with supporting details in the blog.
- Check your school email later this week and respond accordingly. If you cannot access your school email, please email me from an email account that works for you.
Spring Break 4/6-4/10:
- Find a new way to enjoy your time away from school! Learn a new card game, ride a bike, cook something delicious, send a letter, play an instrument (anyone still have a recorder?), find a way to help someone close to you...the possibilities are endless!
- Continue reading and catch up on any activities from the past two weeks that you haven't finished yet.
- Check both this site and your school email for updates next week!

4. Continue to read independently! 25-50 pages a week is a good starting point.
